Nevelson, Louise

Born in 1899, died 1988. Louise was born in the Poltava Governorate of the Russian Empire (present-day Ukraine), and emigrated with her family to the United States in the early 20th century. Nevelson experimented with early conceptual art using found objects. She was a leading sculptor of the twentieth century, pioneered site-specific and installation art. She is recognized for her sculptures comprised of discarded furniture and other wood elements found in the area surrounding her studio. Nevelson was trained at Atelier 17, in Paris. She was showcased at the 31st Venice Biennale. Kathy started her master printer career working for Pace Editions on the Centennial Series for Nevelson.
