Majak Bredell, from South Africa, lived in New York from 1981 through 2004. Majak's work displays a process of contestation regarding social and gender roles that started in the 1980s, similar to the groundbreaking work of first-wave feminists of the 1960s and early 1970s. Kathy collaborated with Majak as master printer from 1998 to 2008.
