Bose, Arun

Born 1934, died 2007. A painter and master printmaker, Arun Bose’s diverse body of work recalls images of the city and the fauna of Kolkata. He studied at Atelier 17 in Paris, with Stanley William Hayter on a Ford Foundation Grant and continued his pursuit of printmaking as a member of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City. Bose dedicated much of his time to teach and inspire others as a professor and head of the printmaking department at Lehman College of City University of New York. He had solo exhibitions in Kolkata, Chile and New York and his work is in the collections of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. Kathy met Arun as his student in 1969 at Lehman College. Arun was the single most influential person in inspiring Kathy to become a printmaker. Kathy collaborated with Arun as master printer in the 70s, once she founded her own studio.
