Frances Barth

(b.1945) 

Born 1946. Frances Barth is a noted artist and teacher who studied painting at Hunter College and is the director of the multidisciplinary Graduate school at Maryland Institute College of Art, the Mount Royal School of Art. Barth primarily produces abstract paintings the defy categorization and suggests narratives. Barth’s compositions fuse elements of diagrams, maps, models, and charts that hint at a geological narrative. Her work has been widely exhibited in solo and group shows since the late 1960’s and can be found in public, corporate and private collections, including The  Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum, The Dallas Museum of Art and others.
