Born 1911, died 2012. Barnet knew by the age of ten that he wanted to be an artist. After studying at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Barnet moved to New York in 1930 to join the Art Students League, beginning his long association with the school. There, he concentrated on painting as well as printmaking, becoming the official printer of the Art Students League in 1936. His artistic career spans over nine decades and evolved with the movements of their eras. Today, his work can be found in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Kathy and Barnet met at the Printmaking Workshop Inc. and collaborated on both etchings and woodcuts.
